Air India changes Middle East airports from Kochi

Air India has started operations between Kochi (COK) and Dubai (DXB). On 11 January the Star Alliance carrier began daily flights on the 2,781-kilometre route between the two airports.
Competition on the route is intense with six other carriers already serving the market: Emirates (19 weekly flights); Air India Express, IndiGo, Jet Airways and SpiceJet all offering daily flights; and flydubai (four weekly flights). This new route appears to replace Air India’s Kochi to Sharjah service which ends on 10 January. Air India now serves Dubai from six Indian airports, the other being Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad and Kozhikide.
