Rise in Passengers at Dubai Airport from Indian Subcontinent

Dubai: Dubai International Airport, the world's busiest by international traffic, experienced an 8.1 per cent increase in passenger numbers in November 2015, including a large spike in travelers from India.

Traffic rose to 6.01 million passengers from 5.57 million in November 2014, taking the total so far in 2015 to 70.96 million, up 10.9 per cent, according to the monthly traffic report released on Tuesday.

During the month, Indian subcontinent recorded the largest increase in total passenger numbers (+160,647 passengers) spurred by growth in traffic and launch of new flights including SpiceJet's services to Kozhikode and Amritsar, followed by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Western Europe and North America.

Dubai Airports chief executive Paul Griffiths said the airport had an average monthly traffic of nearly 6.5 million passengers.

"We are sure the seasonal peaks that we experienced in December will help round off the year with an impressive annual figure," he said.
