SpiceJet flight to Chennai delayed by nine hours

Ahmedabad: More than 100 Chennai-bound passengers created a ruckus at the city airport on Wednesday morning after SpiceJet flight SG-501 was delayed by several hours due to unavailability of the aircraft. This is the second instance of SpiceJet flight getting inadvertently delayed from Ahmedabad due to technical reasons.
The Chennai flight with 117 passengers was scheduled to depart at 6.35am. However, the flight kept getting delayed only to take-off more than nine hours late at 4.10pm.

According to the SpiceJet authorities, the temporary grounding of aircraft on Tuesday at Ahmedabad airport led to this delay. On Tuesday morning, as many as 141 passengers had a narrow escape after SG-616 flight to Mumbai had to make an emergency landing, 20 minutes after the take-off following a technical snag.
"Flight SG-616 Ahmedabad-Mumbai had a technical issue soon after getting airborne. The technical issue was addressed immediately and a crucial part was airlifted and delivered from Delhi to ensure that the aircraft was serviceable by evening. A replacement aircraft was placed in service to cater to other flights out of Ahmedabad," said a SpiceJet spokesperson.
