Panaji: The Airports Authority of India has transferred incumbent airport director Srinivasa Rao and in his place has brought in Bhupesh C H Negi, the former airport director of Tiruchirapalli airport. Negi, who has experience handling cargo operations, affirmed his desire to see that the proposed 24x7 cargo terminal at Dabolim becomes operational.
Rao was appointed as the airport director at Dabolim in October 2014, and during his stint at Goa International Airport, he oversaw its modernization and strove to increase revenue for the state-owned airport.
As per a new policy, an officer can serve as an airport director for a maximum five years, after which he must be promoted to make way for younger officers. Speaking to TOI, Rao confirmed that he would complete his tenure of five years as an airport director in June.
