‘Double scanning at Sgr airport annoys travelers’

Srinagar: Valley’s travel trade fraternity on Thursday raised issue of lack of proper infrastructure at Srinagar airport in a meeting with the Joint Secretary at Civil Aviation Asha Paari government of India. The meeting was held at SKICC which was presided over by Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah.

The travel trade fraternity apprised about increasing air fare which they termed as ‘not justified’.

“The rising air fare to Kashmir decreases tourist flow,” the travel trade fraternity informed the Paari.

They also apprised the civil aviation official the inconvenience caused to the travelers due to the unnecessary check post at Srinagar airport.

“The travelers moving to airport have to go through double scanning which is causing unnecessary delay and is also harassment to them. The scanners should be at only one place and with proper facilities,” they said.

The tour operators demanded up-gradation infrastructure at Srinagar airport. They said public convenience, waiting halls outside the main terminal with proper facilities including washrooms, restaurant etc be upgraded.
