Passengers stuck at airport sans luggage

Chandigarh: Around 40 passengers travelling by Air India remained stuck at the Chandigarh international airport for around six hours as the flight landed from Delhi without their luggage.
After long hours of enquiry and harassment at the airport, the passengers heaved a sigh of relief in the evening when their luggage was brought from Delhi on another airline.

The trouble started when the flight, which departed from Delhi at 10.50 am, reached the Chandigarh airport at 11.55 am. After landing at the airport, the passengers asked for their luggage, but were told that it could not be brought from Delhi due to “heavy weight.” While local passengers went home and returned in the evening to collect their luggage, others had to wait for six hours in utter confusion.
“First, we were told that the baggage will be delivered at our home by tomorrow, but when we raised the issue with the authorities, they tied up with Jet Airways to get our baggage. We went through a lot of mental harassment as first we were not even allowed to sit in the lounge,” said Vikas, who was travelling with his family.
