3 years on, sacked Deccan pilots still waiting for dues

Hyderabad: Almost three years since they moved court, sacked pilots of the Captain G R Gopinathfounded Deccan Charters Pvt Ltd are still running from pillar to post to recover their dues.

Fifteen pilots were reportedly dismissed from work in December 2012 after the firm hit `rough weather'. While the staff, all of them former servicemen, were assured they would be compensated, the aggrieved pilots claim this still hasn't happened, despite orders from the Karnataka High Court. On an average, outstanding salaries and claims of pilots range from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 45 lakh.
"They (company officials) were categorically instructed to pay a substantial amount initially to prove their intent (of eventually clearing our outstanding dues). However, between 2013 and now, we have received just about Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh per person," said Col Ashok Dutt, who was forced to pull his daughter out of a law course in Melbourne because of the pink-slip.J&K-based Col Dutt, believed to be the worst-hit, served Deccan Aviation for eight years.
