Surat: At a time when Air India (AI) sent a proposal to Gujarat government for starting intra-state air services, flyers crusading for better air connectivity in the state have strongly demanded flights between Surat and Ahmedabad as well.
A campaign has been started by them on social media to make AI authorities aware on the need to consider Surat in their proposal regarding air services in Gujarat.
Recently, airport groups on social media had exhorted Surti passengers travelling abroad and domestic destinations to stop flying from Vadodara and Ahmedabad airports due to heavy traffic jams on national highway (NH) 8 and Golden Bridge in Bharuch and the failure of the state and the Central governments to implement the bridge projects over Narmada River.
Sources said AI authorities recently submitted a proposal to Gujarat government on starting Bhavnagar-Amreli and Bhuj-Ahmedabad intra-state flights. This had irked the airport action groups as AI had again neglected Surat-Ahmedabad route.
