Fire breaks out near runway of Varanasi airport

Varanasi: Fire broke out in the bushes near the runway of Lal Bahadur Shastri International airport, Babatpur on late Monday night. The security personnel and airport staff immediately extinguished the fire.

According to reports, the dry bushes caught fire due to the sparks caused by electric short circuit around midnight. Immediately the CISF personnel and security staff swung into action and extinguished the fire.
The airport director DS Garia told to TOI on Tuesday that there was nothing serious, and the fire was put off immediately after information received from control room. He said that the dry grass near the runway caught fire after the electric sparks fell on it. He claimed that the entire airport is manned adequately to respond quickly to any situation.
