Unused Air India aircraft collapses during road transport

Mumbai: A crane carrying an unused Air India aircraft crashed near the Begumpet Airport early morning on Sunday. No casualties were reported.

The old Airbus A320 aircraft was being taken to Air India's cadet training facility at the Balanagar. A crane mounted on a 16-wheelbase transport carrier was supposed to hold the plane upwards (or in the position in which it flies) and thus transport it. After going a short distance the crane collapsed under the weight of the aircraft.
The plane crashed on to the wall of Hitech club near Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam school at the old airport road.
