New Delhi: People entering IGI Airport on fake tickets has become a serious problem. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has been working with the airlines to get a barcode on all air tickets for authenticity check.
On Tuesday , two people were arrested when they entered Terminal 3 by producing a cancelled Delhi-Hong Kong ticket. They were caught while exiting the terminal and it was revealed that they had entered to see off their sister.
"Around 10.20pm, Charanjeet Singh and Gurushewak Singh entered the terminal by producing a cancelled e-ticket for a Cathay Pacific flight. Half an hour later, they were seen exiting and caught by CISF," said a senior CISF officer.
Earlier in January, a Gurgaon resident had sneaked into the international terminal on a fake ticket and stayed at the airport for 10 days.
Once the barcode is implemented, CISF would be equipped with hand-held scanners at all gates. Sources told TOI that a pilot project in this regard had already been started at the Hyderabad airport.
