BJP national president Amit Shah on Tuesday inaugurated the world's largest 'charkha' (spinning wheel) at the terminal three of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Tourism and Culture, was the Guest of Honour at the event.
Speaking at the occasion, Shah recalled the role of the 'charkha' as a source of self-reliance in India's freedom struggle. The idea behind displaying the world’s biggest 'charkha' at the airport is to foster a democratic society as demonstrated by Mahatma Gandhi.
