Ludhiana: With no commercial airlines operating flights from Ludhiana to New Delhi, city businessmen have now planned to engage a chartered service provider and collectively pay for it.
The Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) had earlier approached scheduled airlines and given them an assured business of 1,000 seats booking from Ludhiana during the first three months of starting operations.
But when no reply was received, the association contacted chartered service providers and a few of them turned up with proposals. The businessmen are contemplating hiring a 10-seater airplane that would fly on the Ludhiana-Delhi-Ludhiana route twice daily.
Avtar Singh, CICU president, said, "Ludhiana has the highest number of business travellers to Delhi from our state. There are hundreds who would like to make use of the services to save their time. But as no scheduled airlines gave a commitment, we approached the companies providing chartered services."
