Low-cost carrier SpiceJet continues to lead the Passenger Load Factor (PLF) charts among all Indian carriers by clocking over 90 per cent PLF for 13 successive months.
The figure for May stood at 93.5 per cent, as per the latest statistics released by aviation watchdog DGCA. This is also the airline’s highest ever PLF.
Overall, domestic air passenger traffic grew by 22 per cent to 86.69 lakh from 71.72 lakh during the same month last year.
IndiGo achieved the highest market share in the month under review at 38.5 per cent followed by Jet Airways (16.1 per cent), Air India (15.6 per cent), SpiceJet (12.6 per cent), GoAir (8.1 per cent) and JetLite (2.9 per cent).
Vistara reported a market share of 2.5 per cent, followed by AirAsia India at 2.2 per cent, Air Costa 0.7 per cent, Trujet 0.5 per cent and Air Pegasus 0.2 per cent.
Vistara led the industry in on-time performance with 85.1 per cent punctuality rate at four major airports of Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
It was followed by IndiGo (83.1 per cent), Jet Airways and JetLite (82.3 per cent), SpiceJet (79.2 per cent), and Air India's domestic operations (74.3 per cent).
Meanwhile, Air Pegasus had the highest number of cancellations at 21.34 per cent followed by Air Costa (4.16 per cent), Trujet (2.71 per cent), AirAsia India (1.14 per cent) and JetLite (0.55 per cent).
