Frequency of low cloud situation has been escalated at the city airport in recent times. Due to which over 10 flights had to be diverted to nearby airports. In order to improve visibility, which is necessary during monsoon and winter seasons when clouds normally cannot move up and pose serious visibility problems for the pilots, an upgraded navigation system ILS has been installed at the airport.

But before it start function, the Airport Authority of India’s (AAI) Flight Inspection Unit (FIU) will test calibration of ILS by an advanced measurement system.
