E-cigarettes might not be as popular in India as compared to other countries, but for those who get their nicotine kick the electronic, unconventional way , it's time to stop vaping on board flights.
The directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA), in a safety circular issued early this week, banned on board flights the use of e-cigarettes, personal vaporizers, vape pens, e-cigars, e-hookah, or vaping devices -all products that produce an aerosolized nicotine mixture for inhalation by the user.
Though the DGCA circular bans use of e-cigarettes on board flights, a passenger can carry it in hand baggage.
Following the DGCA order, airlines have issued directives banning the use of e-cigarettes on board flights. In a note sent to travel agents on Wednesday , Jet Airways, with immediate effect, prohibited the use of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems at all times on board or in the vicinity of the aircraft.
