The Mumbai International Airport will soon be renamed as ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport’ and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus or the erstwhile Victoria Terminus will be renamed as ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal’. Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus which was early called as Victoria Terminus (VT), is a historic railway station and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Mumbai.
The station’s name was changed to its present one in March 1996 and it is now known simply as CST (or CSTM) and is soon going to get a new name, ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal’. CST is one of the busiest railway stations in India and serves as the headquarters of the Central Railways. It serves as a terminal for both long-distance trains and commuter trains of the Mumbai Suburban Railway.
