The discussion regarding the plan to reinstate embarkation point in Karippur has already started, but the state haj committee has no major role in the process as the decision regarding the operation of aircrafts for the Haj services would be taken by civil aviation ministry, said minister while inaugurating the distribution of Haj application forms at a function held in state Haj house at Karippur on Monday.

It was due to the ongoing runway development works at Karippur international airport that the haj embarkation point had been shifted to Nedumbassery two years ago. Minister said the runway development works have reached concluding stage and the state government will try its level best to bring back the Haj services to Karippur this year as most pilgrims are from Malabar.
The minister has also launched renovated website of the state Haj committee at the function. This time the authorities are expecting more than 70,000 Haj application from state and around 11,000 pilgrims would be selected.
