Bengaluru: Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru, has been awarded the SKYTRAX Award for ‘Best Regional Airport in India and Central Asia’ by air-travellers, at the World Airport Awards, held at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The award was handed over on Tuesday, March 14.
In a release, Sanjay Reddy, Managing Director, Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL) said that the award was the result of innovations and new initiatives introduced at the Airport.
"Over the past few months, we have innovated and introduced many new initiatives that focus on easing travelling. This iconic award is also a reflection of the passion, perseverance and commitment to excellent service delivery by all our partners," he said. According to BIAL, KIA is the busiest airport in South India and third largest in the country. It caters to over 22 million passengers annually.
