New Delhi: You could soon be able to fly to Ayodhya from Delhi or Kanpur for just about Rs 2,500 if the Centre and airlines bidding under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme back a proposal from the Uttar Pradesh government.
The Yogi Adityanath government, in a presentation to the Centre and airlines earlier this week, has proposed that the 1,530-meter long airstrip at Faizabad, near Ayodhya, may be included in the UDAN regional connectivity scheme (RCS) of the civil aviation ministry.
Among over a dozen routes proposed to be included in second round of bidding of RCS are Delhi-Faizabad-Patna, Kanpur-Faizabad-Allahabad and Chitrakoot-Faizabad-Varanasi.
Known as Lord Ram’s birthplace, Ayodhya received 1.55 crore domestic tourists last year.
Besides Faizabad proposals, the UP government has proposed 18 interstate routes under RCS, including flights from Delhi to Kathmandu via Gorakhpur, which is the constituency of chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
