Pune: Flights under the Union government's regional connectivity scheme, popularly known as UDAN, will take off from at least three airports in the state within a fortnight, senior state government officials said.
With Air Deccan winning the bid for starting flight operations from four unserved and underserved airports of Maharashtra, officials said that things were falling in line now. The first round of bidding was held under UDAN in March this year.
"Earlier this week, there was a meeting with officials of Air Deccan and the civil aviation directorate of the state government. Officials of the Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited also participated in the meeting.
The discussions focussed on the reasons behind the delay and ways of fixing some of the bottlenecks," MADC vice-chairman-cum-managing director Suresh Kakani told TOI.
The official added that when it comes to Solapur airport, which is managed by MADC, flight operations could start only by November.
