SpiceJet To Operate Eight New Flights During Winter Schedule

No-frills airline SpiceJet will operate on eight new routes apart from increasing the frequencies during the winter schedule.

With the new services, SpiceJet would operate an average of 334 flights a day.

In a release today, the carrier said it has inducted three Boeing 737-800 planes to operate the eight new flights and eight new connections.

Jet Airways To Introduce Additional Flights To Kathmandu From Delhi, Mumbai

Private carrier Jet Airways today said it would boost capacity to Kathmandu route with the introduction of additional flights to the Nepalese capital both from Delhi and Mumbai, starting October 30.

Besides, the carrier would also roll out a new daily flight to Dubai and also scale up frequency to Doha in its efforts to enhance connectivity to the Gulf from Kerala.

As part of its new winter schedule, Jet Airways will introduce additional frequencies to Kathmandu from Mumbai and New Delhi while strengthening its connectivity to the Gulf from Kerala, with daily flights to Dubai and Doha from Thiruvananthapuram, from October 30 as part of its new winter schedule, Jet Airways said in a release.

Air India launches one more direct flight to Mumbai

Coimbatore: Air India will introduce another direct flight from Coimbatore to Mumbai. This one-hour 35 minute non-stop flight is expected to be introduced around October 30. The city currently enjoys five non-stop flights to the commercial capital of the country.
Sources said, the new flight introduced by Air India, will fly in the afternoons. This flight is expected to depart from Mumbai at 11.05am and reach Coimbatore at 12.50pm.

Flyers fume as Air India decides to operate ATR on Surat-Delhi sector

Surat: The passengers flying frequently from Surat to Delhi have opposed the decision of Air India (AI) authorities to introduce an ATR aircraft in its morning scheduled between Delhi and Surat from December 1.
Sources said that the AI authorities in New Delhi had expressed their desire to launch Airbus operations between Surat and Delhi in the morning schedule. However, the new winter schedule announced by the AI has the 66-seater ATR aircraft.

Spicejet signs a $12 billion-deal for above 100 aircraft

Mumbai: Indian budget carrier, SpiceJet has signed the dotted lines of the deal for more than 100 aircraft, valued around US $12 billion (over Rs 80,000 crore) by November, as per reports.

The no-frills carrier is reportedly in talks with global aircraft makers, Boeing and Airbus for quite some time now. Both the aircraft manufacturers are keen on being a part of this growth plan, stated Ajay Singh, Chairman, Spicejet, reports stated.

Over 21,000 AI employees to use sun shades to promote airlines

Over 21,000 employees of government-owned Air India, including around 2,000 stationed abroad, would now promote 'brand Air India' through the use of specially-designed sun shades, carrying its advertisement on the rear windshield of their cars.

To begin with, the carrier has already rolled out 10,OOO large size stickers, carrying advertisement of the proposed New Delhi-Madrid flight as well as the New Delhi-San Francisco flight, which is going to be six times-a-week from next month, as well as brand Air India, which are being provided to the employees for the purpose.

Fares to North America may fall as AI expands wings

Travellers between India and North America will soon be spoilt for choice. Air India is planning more flights to the continent, by launching routes like Delhi-Birmingham-Toronto and a Delhi-Washington "capital connect".
"We are looking at some cities in US for adding to our network. This expansion will be done with our existing aircraft and the flights will be operated by sweating the assets more (meaning making more extensive use of planes and crew). We are in talks with US airports which have traffic demand to and from India. Whichever airports gives us the best deal, we will opt for that. That could be Washington or any other city there," said a senior AI official.

Air India, El Al and WestJet eye Washington DC service

Air India, El Al and WestJet are all actively considering adding new service to the Washington DC region by 2018, as the local airport operator works to increase air service to the US capital.

Executives from each of the carriers have expressed interest in serving Washington DC in separate meetings with officials from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), which operates Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International airports, since June, an internal airline business development report for MWAA's board shows.

Air India is considering a new Delhi-Dulles nonstop, El Al a Tel Aviv-Dulles flight and WestJet service to one of the DC area’s three airports – Baltimore/Washington International, Dulles and National – from Toronto, it says.

THAI Smile Airways to introduce new flights to five cities of India

THAI Smile Airways will create a new milestone by becoming the only scheduled airline from Thailand to fly to Gaya and Varanasi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow.

The flights will gradually start operation from Bangkok to Gaya and Varanasi from October 1, Bangkok to Jaipur from November 15, Bangkok to Ahmedabad from December 1 and Bangkok to Lucknow from December 17.

The airline said these flights will bridge the demand of both Indians and Thais, who have been looking for seamless connections for religion, work and leisure purpose, in Thailand, India and onward destinations.

Superdry debuts in India at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport

British fashion and lifestyle brand Superdry has opened its first airport outlet in India, at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport Terminal 2, Mumbai.

The store has a vintage-themed interior with familiar Superdry fixtures including a glass-jar chandelier. Merchandise displays are the same as those featured throughout the global network of Superdry outlets.
The new store opened with the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2016 collection.

Low-cost carrier GoAir has launched a new promotion — Smart Student Fare– which offers discounts and extra baggage allowance for students.

Students will get 5% discount on base fare and excess baggage allowance up to 25Kgs while travelling on GoAir carriers.

Air Canada’s long-awaited direct flight shaves off eight hours in connections and flying time as it links Western Canada’s large Indo-Canadian community directly into the Indian capital via Air Canada’s B787-9 Dreamliner service.

Foreign planes may soon fly without Indian registration

New Delhi: Passengers might soon be flying on foreign-registered aircraft operated by Indian firms with the government planning to do away with certain decades-old requirements to further improve the ease of doing business.

The proposal, once implemented, would bring cheer to aircraft lessors by reducing the compliance requirements as well as make the process easier in case they want to re-take the leased planes.
