Over 300 BA passengers stuck for hours in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: More than 300 international passengers of the British Airways got stuck at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport for hours after their flight was diverted from Mumbai due to bad weather on Wednesday. After hours of negotiations, the passengers were shifted to the nearby hotels till Thursday morning.
After landing at the airport, the flight couldn’t take off as it was found that the Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) of the pilot and the crew members got over, airport sources said. They said that the delay in reaching the destination caused frustration among the passengers. The airline officials refused to comment.

According to airport officials, the London-Mumbai flight (Boeing 777) carrying 301 passengers was diverted to city airport and arrived here at 12 pm due to heavy rainfall in Mumbai. The passengers remained on board for about two hours when the airline officials announced that it can’t take off.
Officials said that after a couple of hours it was found that the pilot and the crew members’ FDTL was over and as per the guidelines, they were not allowed to fly. The flight is likely to take off on Thursday.
