SpiceJet drops fares on select flights

Mumbai: SpiceJet is selling seats at upto 50% discount on certain flights with poor loads two-three days prior to travel date. Typically airlines offer discounts on advance bookings and seats need to purchased 30-60 days in advance.

Seats on one of its late evening Mumbai-Chennai flight on Wednesday were up for sale around Rs 4500 while other second lowest fare being offered by another airline was Rs 7300. Other airlines tickets were priced over Rs 8600. Similarly seats on two of SpiceJet's Mumbai-Delhi flights were priced around Rs 4500 while the second lowest fare on the route was around Rs 7500.


Also on Tuesday the Sun-group promoted low cost airline announced yet another sale scheme offering a million tickets priced at Rs 999 on its entire network for travel between January-October 2015. The airline announced that the discount scheme will run till July and ticket price excluded taxies and levies. Daily the airline sells around 40,000 seats.
