LUCKNOW: Travelling within Uttar Pradesh
and scared of bad roads and erratic trains? Soon, you could fly over
these problems, literally. As many as 18 aviation companies have shown
interest in operating intra-state air services in the state.
"Around 18 non-scheduled aviation companies have sent their proposals. We are scrutinizing them," said UP Tourism managing director Shashank Vikram. The operators were been invited under an `open sky scheme', whereby there was no restriction the number of operators.
On Tuesday, six companies -- Deccan Charters, North East Shuttles, Sikka Kosmo Global Retail, Turbo Aviation, Maritime Energy and Indus Airways - made presentations to the state government.
