Tjhe new airline set up by Singapore Airlines (SIA) and India's Tata
Group is an "important step" in cooperation between the two countries'
civil aviation sectors and the priority now is for it to take flight
soon, said Mr S. Iswaran, Singapore's Second Minister for Trade and
Industry and Home Affairs.
The airline, named Vistara, is expected to start operations next month but is waiting to clear one last hurdle.
Mr Iswaran, who is accompanying Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong on a five-day visit here, met India's Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju yesterday. They discussed the joint venture and ways to expand cooperation in the civil aviation sector.
