Pune: The Airports Authority of India (AAI), Pune, will receive eight acres of land from the Indian Air Force to develop two additional aircraft parking bays at the city airport.
"The proposal for the additional land, which was submitted to the IAF after the defence minister gave his in-principle nod, is in the final stages and we expect to get the land soon," a senior AAI official told TOI on Tuesday.
The additional aircraft bays are required to deal with the rising number of passengers and aircraft movement at the Lohegaon airport in the last few years. The issue had figured prominently at the Airports Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting presided over by Pune MP Anil Shirole, after which a meeting with Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was held in New Delhi.
