In a case where a lessor has been seeking de-registration of aircraft leased to SpiceJet , the Delhi High Court today granted the carrier time till April 7 to settle the dispute with its lessor, AWAS Ireland. AWAS has been seeking de-registration of six of its aircraft.
SpiceJet has been sued by a number of its lessors who allege non-payment of dues. The cases date to a few months back when the company was reeling under a financial crisis. After it was taken over by a new management recently, Spice has been looking to settle the cases, and recently announced a settlement with another Irish lessor, Wilmington Trust, which was seeking de-registration of three aircraft.
