Bareilly: With the state government giving a go-ahead to district authorities for purchasing and acquiring land to set up a civilian airport in the city, local residents' dreams for such a facility in their hometown has come a step closer to reality.
The airport is scheduled to come up at a spot near Madiya Ahmadnagar village where the process to acquire 10 hectares of land from locals farmers at rates agreeable to both the parties has already begun, said district magistrate Gaurav Dayal. The notification from the state government was received on Monday. The project of the civilian airport was awaiting the government nod.
Dayal said a meeting of stakeholders has been organized on Wednesday where the modalities for acquiring the land from farmers would be worked out keeping in mind their interests.
