Mumbai: Days after dna reported the plight of 140 passengers on board a Mumbai-Dubai Jet Airways flight – the passengers spent about 13 hours on the plane before returning to Mumbai, the airline has swung into action to placate the miffed customers.
The carrier has not only decided to give the fliers refunds, but also is offering them free tickets.
Sajjid Mitha, who was one of the fliers, had narrated the passengers' ordeal in a blog. The online post went viral and saw comments from scores of people, including many celebrities – dna first reported the entire drama in its April 8 edition.
"The airline's top executives approached me and many other passengers, giving us verbal assurance of a free ticket as compensation. However, its still not clear whether the ticket is one-way or return," said Mitha, a petrochemical analyst.
Sources said the decision to compensate the passenger was taken after the matter reached the ears of the CEO Cramer Ball who has taken serious view of the incident and asked the concerned departments them to take corrective measures.
