Narendra Modi visit delays flights, creates chaos in airport

Mumbai: Fliers moving out of Mumbai airport got the bitter taste of VIP movement on Thursday afternoon as eight flights were delayed due to the confusion over prime minister Narendra Modi's movement in the city. The flight delays lasted for several hours, including that of the Indigo airline flight which was delayed by about 3 hours and forty minutes.

A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) source said that the delay led to chaos at the airport with passengers getting into arguments with the airline and airport staff.

Modi had arrived in the city around 10.30am in a defence aircraft to attending two functions in south Mumbai. To fly him within the city, a helicopter was used.
