South African woman held with drug worth Rs.1.18 crore

New Delhi: A 22-year-old South African woman was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) here while carrying a 19.30 kg consignment of narcotic drugs, valued at Rs.1.18 crore in the international market, the CISF said on Monday.


Lynnette Nosipho was held by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at Terminal-3 of the IGI airport on Sunday while she was carrying 17.22 kg of pseudoephedrine -- a sympathomimetic stimulant drug -- and 2.08 kg heroin concealed in her belongings.

"Nosipho's activities were found suspicious during her frisking at gate number-3 of IGI Terminal-3," CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh said.

"We recovered 16 packets of narcotic substance concealed in a newly-purchased laptop bag, 14 packets concealed in cricket elbow guards and one packet in a lady's shoe. The substance was in powder form," Singh said.
