Trichy: Immigration authorities on Sunday night caught an accused in the 2008 Ariyalur explosive dealing case at the international airport here. He was nabbed after it was found that his passport had been revoked by Indian immigration authorities.
Police said Karuppiah, 27, was an accused in the 2008 Ariyalur explosive dealing case and the Sendurai police had registered a case. The legal proceedings are currently underway in the Ariyalur court and the four suspects who are in custody have been attending the proceedings. Karuppiah alone was absconding. He had fled the country ever since he was involved in the case. Police issued a lookout notice and two years ago, his passport was revoked.
On Sunday, officials were scanning Karuppiah's passport when the records showed that his passport was revoked and that he was involved in a case. On investigation, it was found that he had been involved in providing ammunition to a group.
