Bangalore: The last of the choke-points on the speed-way to Kempegowda
International Airport (KIA) is set to be cleared: The National Highways
Authority of India (NHAI) has mooted service roads at the much-congested
Hebbal flyover and a grade separator to get rid of the lone traffic
junction at Sadahalli Gate (ITC junction). With this, the drive to KIA
from the city is expected to be free-flowing and without any bottleneck.
About 18 months after the official inauguration of this 'expressway', the authorities have finally realised that expressways cannot have traffic signals and hence decided to construct a grade separator.
To make the KIA road/Hyderabad road travel safer, NHAI will take up a couple of infrastructure projects (rather call it corrective steps). These include a vehicular underpass at Sadahalli junction; service road near Hebbal; a pedestrian underpass at Sonnappanahalli; and a few skywalks. These projects were approved by NHAI's executive committee recently.
