Flyer missing, flight returns

NEW DELHI: A Colombo-bound Air India flight had to return to IGI Airport on Tuesday afternoon when the staff realized that the plane had left with the baggage of a passenger who had not boarded the flight.


According to aviation safety norms, any aircraft with "unaccompanied baggage" cannot be allowed to land at its destination. Confirming that the flight had to return to the airport, an Air India spokesman said the case is being investigated. According to procedures, the airline tries to look for the missing passenger and if he or she does not show up, their checked-in bags are taken off the plane.
