AAI prepares plan on night-landing facility at Juhu airport

In a development which could give a boost to use of helicopters, for example as medical ambulance, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is finally giving final touches to the draft plan to start night-landing facility at Juhu airport.
The plan will have to be okayed by the AAI headquarters before being implemented. The facility has been a long pending demand of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and private charter companies.

Juhu airport, which is considered as the oldest civil aviation airport in the country, operates only till sunset due to lack of such a facility, which is a hindrance, especially because government-owned ONGC runs its operation at High Seas using Juhu airport for its helicopters. There are several big and small private charter operators operating from there.
