Jet Airways bags Henry Spira Humane Corporate Progress Award

Jet Airways, has bagged an international award in recognition of the private carrier's policy to enforce a ban on shipments of shark fins as cargo to curb illegal trade.

Jet Airways is the only Indian company to receive '2014 Henry Spira Humane Corporate Progress Award' award from the Humane Society International, a release said.

"Jet Airways has always been at the forefront in implementing best practices in the aviation industry. As a responsible corporate citizen, Jet Airways recognises the universal concern with the conservation of sharks and we have stepped forward by lending our support to this cause.


"We hope that collective action against shark fin trade will ensure protection of our fragile marine ecosystem," Jet Airways chief executive Cramer Ball said.

The decision made by Jet Airways to ban the shipment of shark fins as cargo has helped bolster shark protection measures both in the country and worldwide, N G Jayasimha, Managing Director, Humane Society International (India) said.
