Thiruvananthapuram: The state government sought the intervention of the
Centre to reduce the hike in the prices of air ticket from destinations
in West Asia to Kerala during the festival season. Non-Resident
Keralites Affairs Minister K C Joseph wrote to the Union Civil Aviation
Minister following reports that airlines were charging five to seven
times of the normal air fare in the sector in view of the heavy rush of
passengers during the forthcoming Ramzan.
He requested the minister to take steps to operate more flights in the sector by Air India. Stating that it was a cruel on Keralites who wanted to reach Kerala during the festival season, he urged the Centre to direct foreign airlines to reduce the fare.
