Khammam: A three-member team of experts from the Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) has begun a field study to assess the feasibility of setting up an airport in the coal hub of Kothagudem.
The members of the team, accompanied by Kothagudem MLA J. Venkat Rao, visited the sprawling site of 1,600 acres identified for airport at Punukuduchelka in Kothagudem mandal as part of a feasibility study on Thursday.
The MLA apprised the team of the topography of the expansive open land identified for the airport, its accessibility to the nearby coal town of Kothagudem and power generation hub of Palvancha.
