Kochi: An amphibious aircraft meant for conducting service between
Kerala and Lakshadweep arrived at the Cochin International Airport
Limited (CIAL) at Nedumbassery on Sunday, covering four continents.
The seaplane has been purchased by Seabird Seaplane Private Ltd, which is an initiative by two technocrats with financial support from an associate company of INKEL Limited. The ten-seater Quest Kodiak-100 amphibian, which landed on Friday night at the airport, is the first aircraft purchased by the company. The seaplane will be based at the Kochi airport.
The aircraft took off from the South St Paul airport in the United States on September 27, manoeuvred by two Kochi-based pilots.
Flying over four continents - North America, Europe, Africa and Asia - under varying weather conditions, the seaplane flew for more than 80 hours before arriving at its destination.
