Vistara to touch Kashmir skies mid-April

Vistara Airlines will begin its operations in Jammu and Kashmir from mid April.

A senior executive of the airlines informed Greater Kashmir that the airline has secured permissions from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Indian Air Force to operate from Srinagar International Airport. “We are ready to operate from mid April,” he asserted.

Sources said the airlines had received DGCA nod to start its operations on Srinagar-Jammu-Delhi sector at a meeting at Jammu last month.

The operations by the airline will increase the number of airlines operating on Srinagar Airport from five to six. Currently, Air India, Jet Airways, Go Air, Spicejet and Indigo are operating on Srinagar-Delhi segment.

Sources at the airport said that Vistara has almost completed required infrastructure development inside the aerodrome. “They have built back-end office, counters and other facilities at the airport.”

Vistara is an Indian airline based in Gurgaon with its hub at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, is a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines.
