New Delhi: Fliers travelling by Air India or Jet Airways can now check-in their luggage and collect their boarding pass from New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium metro stations of the Airport Express Line.
While Air India’s check-in counters were already operational at the New Delhi metro station and witness a footfall of about 300 per day, the facility has now been extended to both domestic and international passengers of the national carrier to Shivaji Stadium metro station.
Fliers can check-in their baggage at the metro stations two hours to 12 hours ahead of the scheduled flight departure. The check-in facility at these stations will close two hours before the flight departure time.
“The checked-in baggage will be transferred to the Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal-3 through a secured baggage handling system [BHS]. The highly-sophisticated BHS ensures that all baggage reaches the airport in time,” said a spokesperson from private airport operator Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL).
“Luggage trolleys are also available for passengers at entry gates and platforms of all metro stations of the Airport Express Line,” he added.
“This facility will help many airport-bound passengers, who can now check-in at these two centres based on their convenience. So far, limited city check-in facility was available for just Air India passengers at the New Delhi metro station,” he said.
