Kullu gets air connectivity from Chandigarh

Shimla: After years of efforts to link Chandigarh and Kullu by air, the popular tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh received its inaugural IA flight from Chandigarh on Thursday.
Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha, along with Union Health Minister J P Nadda, launched the flight. Speaking on the occasion, Nadda said since the hill state was a tourist destination, air connectivity was crucial. Direct air connectivity for the heart of Himachal has been a persistent demand of travellers, said local MP Ram Swaroop.
Air India will operate its 72-seater plane for the 45-minute flight between Kullu and Chandigarh. The flight takes off at 8.35 am from Kullu-Manali airport at Bhuntar. From Chandigarh, it will take off at 9.50am. The flight will operate seven days a week.
