Mumbai: Investigations into the drone delivery advertisement created by Francesco’s Pizzeria, a new outlet in Lower Parel, have found that the makers did not violate any aviation norms, the police said. Officers involved in the probe said they may go easy on the pizza outlet after finding that the video was nothing more than a publicity stunt.
The N M Joshi police station began suo motu investigations last month after a video uploaded by the outlet went viral on social media. The advertisement shows a box of pizza being delivered to a high-rise in Worli using a four-rotor drone. The police had written to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the Airports Authority of India and the Air Traffic Control tower of the Mumbai airport to clarify whether Francesco’s pizza required permission before using the drone.
“The drone is not capable of flying more than 40 ft high. For this reason, the makers of the advertisement filmed it in parts to give the impression that the drone had delivered the pizza. They did not stage the entire flight in one go,” said an officer at the N M. Joshi police station.
